Every Friday of term 4, Foundation to Grade 2 students will be taking part in swimming lessons. They will travel to Kings St Kilda East swimming pool, located at 97 Alma Road St Kilda East by bus. We are seeking parent assistance each week to help dress the children and organise their belongings after they come out of the pool. All parent helpers must hold a Working with Children Certificate. Helpers can make their own way to the pool or ride with students on the bus. If you are interested in being a helper please email the school at toorak.ps@edumail.vic.gov.au or speak with your classroom teacher. Below is the swimming timetable –

During swimming, it is requested that you send your child to school with their bathers on underneath their uniform. If girls have one piece costumes, they may wish to leave the neckties/straps around their waist so they can still go to the bathroom easily. Students are also urged to bring jackets daily to stay warm.
Students are asked to bring a separate, heavy duty, named bag to the pool each day containing:
· underwear
· goggles
· a swimming cap for students with long hair
· a comb /hairbrush for students with long hair
· slip on shoes/sandals
· a towel
It is CRITICAL that ALL items are labelled with permanent pen or equivalent, even shoes, socks, singlets and undies!
We strongly recommend that students leave their school shoes and socks safely in their classrooms and travel to and from the pool in slip-on shoes or sandals, ones which they are able to take on and off independently. We will help them change back into shoes and socks on return to school.
All abilities are catered for and we strongly encourage full participation this important safety program. Please see your child’s classroom teacher should you have any questions
