The Girl’s Groups have been underway in Term 3 with some inspiring developments along the way.
Our Senior group have embraced their knitting project, with most girls having never knitted before, now producing beautiful pieces. It’s been a real test of persistence, dedication and perseverance with the results being very rewarding for the girls. We are steadily building our squares to eventually combine into a blanket which we will present to the local Nursing Home – Darnlee. Here the girls will have an opportunity to meet with the elderly in our community for an afternoon tea get together.
Our Junior Groups have been exploring relationships and most importantly, their relationship with themselves. They’ve been working through a little workbook called ‘My Body Book’ where we bring awareness and understanding to the different feelings, emotions and physical symptoms that they may experience. We’ve had a focus on appreciation in the last 2 weeks where we have been recognising our own strengths and inner qualities whilst also appreciating the qualities of each other.
Appreciation is such an important life foundation to have, where it is normal to know and embrace your own inner qualities, where it’s also ok and normal to receive compliments and appreciation from others and where it’s natural to be able to express and share what you love about someone else.
All of this is super healthy! I always say a daily dose (& then some) of appreciation is better and more important than a daily dose of vitamins.
