In literacy, Grade 2 have been looking at Persuasive texts.
In reading, students have looked at texts with great persuasive language. They then used these texts to generate ideas and expand their vocabulary.
In writing, students have played with persuasive language and techniques to develop a persuasive text structure. They went on to experiment with using paragraphs to create many texts about differing topics.
Students are finishing the unit with a class debate about, ‘What transport is the best to get to school?’
We have been extremely impressed with the students ability to engage their audience with their writing techniques. As you can see in the student drafts below. The adjudicators are in for some tough decisions when the debates occur.
