Our Programs

School Wide Positive Behaviour Support

As well as our students being learners of Literacy and Numeracy, they are also learners of behaviour.

At Toorak Primary School, we have adopted the school-wide positive behaviour support framework that creates a positive and supportive learning environment for all students.

The framework teaches and reinforces positive behaviours in our students while providing targeted assistance to students who need extra support, leading to a more successful and inclusive learning community.

Respectful Relationships

Healthy relationships, resilience and confidence allow our students to reach their full potential.

Our Respectful Relationships program is a core component of the Victorian Curriculum, its aim being to embed a culture of respect and equality across the entire school.

We believe everyone involved in our school community deserves to be respected, valued and treated equally.

We know that changes in attitudes and behaviours can be achieved when positive attitudes, behaviours and equality are lived across the school community, and when classroom learning is reinforced by what is modelled in our school community.

We reinforce and celebrate positive attitudes and behaviors in students through our weekly wristband nominations program. Each week, select students receive a wristband at assembly for exemplifying one of our core school values: respect, honesty, friendship, responsibility or kindness. This program highlights and encourages the behaviors that contribute to a supportive and thriving school community.

Retorative Practice

Restorative practice seeks to repair relationships that have been damaged.

At Toorak Primary we operate a restoration room for students to share their stories, express their feelings, and work towards a mutual understanding in a safe and supportive environment.  Our Restoration Room not only addresses the immediate conflict between students but also provides ongoing support and resources for lasting change.

Leadership

Leadership is integral to personal growth.

At Toorak Primary School, we encourage our students to develop their leadership skills. There are numerous opportunities for students to step into leadership roles, whether as school, house, or class captains, as a member of the junior school council, or as wellbeing or green team captains. These roles not only help students build confidence, responsibility, and teamwork but also enhance their overall wellbeing.
