We enjoyed thanking our many volunteers yesterday over a delicious morning tea. Our school thrives on the contribution of our school families. Some long serving members of the community will retire from their roles at the end of this year. Please consider volunteering at the school in the new year as vacancies are announced. Over the next two weeks we have several end of year events to celebrate yet another highly successful school year. Grade Six graduation is always a highlight as our senior students reflect one seven years of Primary Education while contemplating their secondary journey. Understandably, our graduating students experience mixed emotions as they transition into secondary school. We all look forward to sharing this special evening with Year Six students and their families.
For 2019, there will be several new staff members as this year’s staff head off in various directions. Some staff who have be on leave will return for next year while Mrs Ring looks forward to retirement at the end of the year. I am also pleased to announce that Mrs Skiba has been appointed Assistant Principal of Kingswood Primary School for the next three years. I congratulate Tracy on her appointment and thank her for the contribution she has made to Toorak Primary School over the past three years. The newly appointed Assistant Principal is Sharon Wildermuth who is currently employed at Malvern Central School. We look forward to Sharon’s curriculum leadership over the next few years. Induction Day for new staff will take place on Monday 10th December. Whole school Transition Day is scheduled for next Tuesday 11th December. On this day, students learn where their classroom will be, who their teacher is and those students who will be in the class. Each child will bring home a letter of introduction from the 2019 teacher.
This is always an exciting time for our children, staff and families.
