The year two students have celebrated the Year of the Rat by using zentangle patterns to bring their Chinese Zodiac piece to life. They explored the effects of painting water based dye over the oil pastel and were excited by the results of this pastel resist effect. This opened discussion about the scientific nature of oil and water based materials. There was also lots of talk about different lines that can be used to create patterns. The end results were astounding! Happy Lunar New Year!
