What a better way to celebrate our return to school than with the festivities Book Week brings!
Due to COVID, the Children’s Book Council of Australia (CBCA) has rescheduled Book Week to Week 3 of Term 4, commencing this Monday 19th October – Thursday 22nd October, (Friday 23rd October being a Public Holiday).
The CBCA Book Week theme for this year is “Curious Creatures, Wild Minds”.
To celebrate Book Week this year, TPS has a number of special activities and celebrations planned including an online author visit from Adrian Beck, author of the incredibly popular Kick it to Nick and the Stuff Happens series. All students in F-6 will have the opportunity to participate in a virtual session with Adrian Beck to kick off our Book Week celebrations on Monday 19th October.
On Tuesday 20th October, we will have our ‘Virtual Book Week Parade’ where students are encouraged to come dressed as their favourite book character for the day. Although the parade will be run slightly differently this year, it will still be just as exciting with prizes to be won for the best ‘home made costume’. The ‘parade’ will be recorded and shared with the TPS community later in the week.
Lamont Virtual Book Fair:
As we are unable to hold a Book Fair in person this year, Toorak PS will be holding a virtual Book Fair – bringing the joy of reading and the excitement of the Book Fair into the comfort of your home!
Our virtual Book Fair features a selection of the most popular Book Fair items including picture books, novels, activity books and more!
Best of all, every purchase will support our school library (as well as a local business).
To be part of our Virtual Book Fair, click here to access the link and follow the instructions. All orders will be delivered to the school the following week.
Children will also participate in lots of other exciting Book Week activities as part of their normal Literacy program, throughout the week.
We look forward to the celebrations next week…time to start thinking about that Book Week costume!
