Once again Toorak Primary School will be submitting a team of students to represent our school at the Victorian Interschool Snowsports Championships. This event is an excellent opportunity for students to participate and compete in a state level competition. While competitors who excel at this level progress to the Australian Interschool Championships, this is not the focus of our team. Toorak Primary school welcomes any skiers and snowboarders, from Foundation to Year 6, who can safely make it down a blue run to join our team. This event runs from Monday 22nd August to Sunday 28th August. In the past, students from primary school in ski events have competed on Monday and Tuesday, and snowboarders on Wednesday. Secondary schools compete later in the week. As manager of the Interschool Ski team, I will be attending this event as a representative of the school to oversee and organise events. Families who are interested in attending are responsible for the transportation, accommodation, and supervision of their own children. All students attending must be with a parent, or under the care of a guardian. There are many families who attend the event that work together to make this easier. If you are interested in attending this event it is recommended to organise accommodation as early as possible as it is a very busy week on the mountain. Many events are held early in the morning on Monday the 22nd, so it is best to arrive on mountain for Sunday the 21st of August. Discounted lift passes for competitors can be bought for Monday 22nd – Friday 26th August. An information session (Term 2) and further team meetings (Terms 2 and 3) will be held to discuss further information. Steven Carota
